OK-So I am a little late posting the rest of the details about the Rehoboth/Dogfish trip. On 3/31 we went to the brewery in Milton De for the 3:00 PM tour. As luck would have it, Sam Caligione was giving that days tour and it was a funny, informative tour with a lot of free sampling of great beers. This was the most generous brewery tour I have been on. The tour lasted a little over an hour and we sampled Raison D'Etre, 60 minute IPA, 90 minute IPA, Shelter Pale Ale and the Brown ale. As the owner and the one who created Dogfish, Sam was able to give a unique perspective on the brewery tour and on the state of craft beer. We really enjoyed the tour. After the tour we purchased some beer (2 bottles of Red & White, a bottle of Black & Blue, a 4 pack of Burton Baton and a 4 pack of 120 Minute). We then headed back to the Brewpub in rehoboth for dinner and we drank 90 minute IPA that was dry hopped using Randall the Enamel Animal! It was a really good two days of Dogfish!

Rehoboth Trip-Part 1

I was in Rehoboth for a combination business/personal trip. We went to the brewpub for Dinner Thursday night. Tried the Brewpub exclusive Beanie Bock, a 9% bock beer brewed by both the Brewpub brewer and the brewer from the Milton brewery. It was very good. The food was also very good, I got a pizza from the woodfired grill and my wife got a burger with smoked gouda. Good food, good beer, great place. Friday we are hoping to go to the Milton Brewery for a tour and tastings.....More to come.

Monster Beverage

I stopped by Monster Beverage in Glassboro NJ yesterday. I had read about it on beeradvocate.com but had never been before. Great store. They have a nice selection of beers and quite few that I have not seen in the area. I picked up a bottle of Rogue Oregon Golden Ale, a bottle of Southern Tier Tripel and a 4-pack of Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter. I will definitely have to go back as there is a great selection and the pricing was good as well.

Double Dog

WOW! I wasn't really expecting this. This "Double Pale Ale" is quite hoppy but also you can taste the alcohol due to it's 10.5%. This is a "big" beer and comes in a 4-pack at the cost of a regular Flying Dog 6-pack. Don't get me wrong, it is pretty good just not what I was expecting and this is no session beer. One at a time please! See below for the rest of the stats on this one:
Alcohol content:
10.5% ABV
Original Gravity:
1.102
IBU's:
85
Specialty Malts:
30-37L Carastan Malt, Chocolate Malt
Hops:
Columbus, Millenium, Cascade
Process:
Double recipe of Pale Ale dry hopped with an insane amount of Cascade and Columbus hops

HOP-OCALYPSE

I just tried this beer in Easton MD. I am here for work and I always like to seek out the local beer store for something different. The label says "A hop flavor so delicious... It will change your world." Well that said, It did NOT change my world. It is a pretty decent beer but I would say it is just an average IPA, nothing "world changing". Looks like this beer is contract brewed by Frederick Brewing Co. in Maryland for Clay Pipe Brewing Co.

HOP MONSTER!

What is this? It is or shall I say was Paper City Hop Monster (Cask Conditioned) and it was Delicious! I have never had this beer other than this so I can not compare the cask conditioned version to the standard but this was very good and quite creamy. You gotta love the Cask. I enjoyed this over lunch Friday the 9th of February at the Sunset Grill & Tap just outside of Boston. I was in Boston for the Extreme Beer Festival and the Sunset was a great find. 112 beers on tap and probably 200 more in bottles plus the food was great also!
